Learning Gujarati in America can be hard, since most of our conversations are in English. As much as we try to speak Gujarati at home, we often slip back into English, especially when we don't know a particular word. If that happens at your home as well, then this craft/activity is perfect for you.
Make your own personalized Gujarati Dictionary (or ગુજરાતી શબ્દકોશ / Gujarati shabdakosh).
Step 1: Find an old notebook (or buy a new one).
Step 2: Write મારી ગુજરાતી શબ્દકોશ/ Maari Gujarati shabdakosh/ My Gujarati dictionary on the front page.
Step 3: Take sticky notes and cut them in 0.5cm lines. Write each letter of the Gujarati alphabet on a different sticky note strip. Place each sticky note strip 3-4 pages part in your notebook in such a way that the Gujarati letter is visible. (Bear with me, that was a little hard to write, but check out the picture for some visual guidance).
Step 4: Fill up your dictionary. Make this an every day activity that you and your kid can do together. We try to have each person share a new word they learned and we add it to the dictionary.
